The Strandbad Alte Donau, in Vienna’s 22nd district, is one of the best known open-air lidos in Vienna. You can sunbathe and relax on the natural sand and experience a true summer feeling. Sport fans will also find enough to do here as there are possibilities to play badminton, football as well as volleyball here. And a jump into the water will cool you down immediately!

If you want a breath-taking view of the city as a backdrop when you jump into cool waters, then you should definitely pay a visit to the Krapfenwaldlbad in Vienna’s 19th district. In no other open-air pool in Vienna will you have such an amazing view of the city. In addition to areas where you can play various sports as well as pools which cater specifically for special groups (sportsmen/women, families, children), the adventure pool, with its integrated massage jets, in particular attracts many visitors. And to round off a perfect day of relaxation, why not make use of the possibility to have a massage here?

However, bear in mind that on very hot days and at weekends, the Krapfenwaldbad can be very busy.

In this special lido, there is something for everyone! No other lido in Vienna is as spacious as the Gänsehäufel, which is a wooded sand island in the “Old Danube”. And it has much to offer: from wave pools, children’s areas and slides to various sporting activity areas, where you can, for example, play boccia or try your hand at climbing. In addition there is a stand up paddling centre, a bouncy castle and the possibility to play mini golf. And if you want to relax, you can always go for a massage. The list of activities in the Gänsehäufel appears endless! A visit to the lido is a must if you are in Vienna in summer!

Address: Moissigasse 21, 1220 Vienna

The no. 20 B bus will guarantee an easy and uncomplicated trip to the open-air pools. The buses run more frequently when the weather is good and they bring guests directly to the Strandbad Alte Donau, making stops at the other open-air pools en route. Here you will find further information on travelling in Vienna with the Wiener Linien and how best to get from A to B.
