Enjoy warm summer evenings in rooftop bars and restaurants with a view of Vienna
Austria’s capital, Vienna, has one of the prettiest skylines in the world. The best place to enjoy the view of Vienna is at one of the many rooftop bars and restaurants in the city. We have selected a few of the best rooftop bars for you. Here you can perfectly combine the panoramic views with delicious food and refreshing drinks on summer evenings.
Humor and a view united in one bar – the Dachboden
Not far from the Museum Quarter, you could almost believe that you are flying when you go up in the spectacular external elevator. When you reach the top, the Dachboden, literally the attic, exudes a relaxing, feel-good atmosphere, almost like in your own living room. The bar has dedicated itself totally to the circus theme. Everywhere you will discover some quaint detail from the circus world, such as the bicycle, which hangs from the ceiling.
However, the highlight has to be the large rooftop terrace. Especially in the evening, this becomes a hotspot for after-work drinks. While you are sipping your cocktails, you can admire the city and its sights – from parks and the parliament to the vineyards in Korneuburg.

Amazing view from the famous Wiener Justizcafé

Food prepared by the legandary chef, Ivo Brnjic. Magnificent views of the parliament, the Burgtheater (the Imperial Court Theatre) and the Volksgarten (the People’s Garden). And a really large terrace with a unique flair. You are guaranteed all of this at the Justizcafé in Vienna.
The café sits atop Vienna’s Palace of Justice, which is just as beautiful and well known. But the café does not only serve as a lunch canteen for judges and lawyers because the Justizcafé can also be visited by other guests – a fact known by only a few Viennese. From Monday to Friday you can order breakfast, weekly set menus or dishes à la carte. The choice ranges from simple delicacies to Viennese haute cuisine. In addition, the Justizcafé can also be booked for private occasions, such as weddings or business events.
When you enter the Palace of Justice, you will have to pass the obligatory security check, which involves a bag search. This is necessary in the interests of general safety.

A celestial experience – Sky Bar

Kärntnerstraße in Vienna is well known to many, as is the famous Steffl department store. And it is in this department store that you will find the Sky Bar on the top floor. After taking the glass panorama lift to the top, the whole of Vienna lies at the feet of its guests. You can admire almost every well-known attraction from here, for example, the city’s first district, the Karlskirche and the Big Wheel in the Viennese Prater.
The Sky Bar is a typical American bar. The choice of drinks here is just as important as the expansive rooftop terrace. And even if the weather is bad, you can still enjoy the view through the fully glazed façade.

Great views, brunch and summer cinema in Café Oben

The rooftop of Vienna’s Main Library is reminiscent of a cozy pavement café. In Oben, you can not only relax while enjoying brunch but the lunch and evening menus are also delicious. From homemade ketchup to herbs homegrown on the rooftop terrace – the Oben perfectly rounds off any day in Vienna.
In the evenings, there is a lively atmosphere in the bar. The lights in and around Vienna add to this urban city flair.
Our tip: In summer, the “Kino am Dach” (“Cinema on the roof”) is held here. Enjoy the view of Vienna in the highest open-air cinema of the city.
