Unusual Shops in Vienna

Vienna is home to numerous extraordinary shops

Mariahilfer Straße or Kärntnerstraße are likely known to many visitors to Vienna. However, if you venture away from these famous shopping streets, you will find shops which are definitely worth discovering and which are also often unusual. In many cases, uniqueness, quality and unusual design play a significant role. Some of the shops are somewhat hidden and for this reason, we have chosen a few special ones just for you.

Wier is located a mere 3-minute walk from the city’s Westbahnhof (Western Railway Station). It is not easy to find straightaway as the entrance is situated in Hotel Fürstenhof. The shop alone is, however, well worth a visit with its open, light and clear design, which make it a stylish eye-catcher. And the interior will not disappoint you. The clothes shop sells many well-known brands but also brands from newcomers, for example, 24 Bottles, Franz, Johnny Urban and Nullkommasiebenprozent.

In addition to clothing and accessories, you can also buy bottles and rucksacks. If you value quality and advice and also don’t want to simply buy something off the peg, this is the shop for you.

Along with St. Stephen’s Cathedral, Schönbrunn and Co., it is also one of the city’s landmarks: the Vienna Würfeluhr. Since 1907, “cube clocks” have been displaying the time in public places in Vienna. The lettering “Normalzeit” (normal time) is particularly eye-catching, as normal time refers to Greenwich Mean Time which was introduced in 1910. Formerly, there were different time zones in the monarchy.

Now you will discover many different souvenirs from Vienna with the cube clock on them. But we would like to draw your attention to the classic “RED36” wristwatch from Lichterloh. It does cost a little more, but it is definitely a head-turner!

Lichterloh
Address: Gumpendorferstraße 15-17, 1060 Vienna
