A baker from the “Wine Quarter” conquers the heart of the city

Apparently, not only the local residents eagerly awaited the opening of the Öfferl bakery and café in the Wollzeile, which opened a few weeks ago. Long queues of people can be found in front of the chic but demurely furnished café.
But do not let these queues put you off as these people are usually waiting to be served at the counter of the bakery and not queuing up for the café, which is located at the rear. Öfferl’s pastries are in a class of their own and play in a league of their own. At lunchtime, for example, delicious sandwiches are served. But also the sweet dishes, a perfect accompaniment to an afternoon coffee or, best of all, first thing in the morning, should not be missed.

The 14th district of Vienna, Penzing, is currently not exactly famous as a culinary hotspot
. However, this could change very quickly. The Café Chrivo recently opened in Meiselstraße. This small and hip café is immediately reminiscent of cafés in Paris or Berlin.
Here, you will be served truly great coffee. The selection of cakes and tarts is also impressive. The tastefully furnished café with its cosy charm is the perfect place to while away some hours.

Gustav Emil Paula Paula statt Kurkonditorei Oberlaa

In Babenbergerstaße, opposite Vienna’s Museumsquartier, a branch of the Kurkonditorei Oberlaa was situated on generous premises at this location for a long time. However, it recently moved to Mariahilferstraße, where you will now find Oberlaa’s flagship store. It is hardly surprising that, in this prominent and highly frequented location, the property did not remain empty for long.
Recently Gustav Emil Paula Paula opened its doors here. And yes, this is the correct name – there are no typing errors! Gustav Emil Paula Paula is a café, a patisserie and a hairdresser’s – at first glance a more than wild mixture. But it is definitely well worth a visit! The food and drinks are of the highest quality and, as the three brothers who run the establishment rightly state, this is a place for all your senses.

Tiki Bowls in Josefstadt

The trend towards healthy bowls based on the Hawaiian model continues in Vienna. In most inner city districts, you can either quickly and easily put together your bowl yourself or order a set bowl from the menu. Aloha Bowl, which is located directly on Josefstädter Straße in the city’s eighth district, Josefstadt, is a new establishment offering such bowls.
The friendly and bright restaurant is less than a ten minutes’ walk from Vienna’s City Hall. And you will find a typical selection of bowls and toppings on the menu. Do you fancy sweet rice pudding? If you would like a dessert after a healthy meal, you are sure to find something which you can eat with a clear conscience in the small fridge opposite the bowl counter.
