Matcha Komachi in Josefstadt

The traditional Japanese noodle soup is so popular in Vienna that the owners of the Matcha Komachi have two restaurants to satisfy the needs of ramen lovers! One is located on Operngasse, in Vienna’s fourth district, while the newer one can be found directly on Josefstädter Straße, in the city’s eighth district. The ambience, in particular, is truly Japanese. When you enter one of the two restaurants, you may even believe that you are in Tokyo.
The ramen served in both restaurants is excellent. There are several variations of the noodle soup and vegetarians and vegans definitely get their money’s worth. If you still have a little time or if you are eating your ramen alone, why not browse through one of the many Japanese magazines or Manga comics available to read in the restaurants?

The seventh district of Vienna is no less authentic and traditional. More precisely, at Mari’s Metcha Matcha. Here you can choose from a wide variety of excellent ramen and we recommend that you round off your meal with the wonderful, typically Japanese desserts – Mochi.
Japanese tapas and Bento boxes are also available at Mari’s Metcha Matcha. In any case, you should make sure you have enough time as you will need this to taste your way through the small but very fine menu. A Matcha tea or a Kalpi soda (original Japanese lemonade) is a perfect accompaniment to your meal.

Shoyu Ramen in Vienna’s first district

It may not be particularly easy to find Shoyu Ramen as the restaurant is somewhat hidden away on Seilerstätte in the city’s first district. But once you have managed to find the small restaurant, you should definitely stop here. The ramen tastes authentic and also the many different variations leave nothing to be desired.
The ambience, on the other hand, is somewhat less chic than you would expect for Vienna’s first district. Clearly the motto here is casual. Fast ramen for the very hungry.
