In addition to the numerous well-known shopping streets in Vienna, the capital also has many small, individual shops – ideal for a Christmas shopping trip to Vienna.
Every year we tell ourselves that this year we will start with our Christmas shopping earlier and every year we find ourselves running around at the last moment. But this year will be different: here we would like to recommend a few shops in Vienna where you can buy really individual Christmas presents. Regardless of whether you are looking for something weird and wonderful, traditional products from Vienna or presents which will help a social cause – you will find something suitable in Vienna.
Combine your visit to the museum with a shopping trip
For everyone who is looking for a special Christmas present, we can recommend the various museum shops in Vienna. You will rarely find such a wide selection of creative and unusual gifts in other shops.
Directly at the main entrance to the MuseumQuartier (MQ) you will see the MQ-Point, where you will not only be provided with information about current exhibitions but you can also explore the wide selection of goods on offer – from unusual Christmas decorations to funny presents and even some clulinary delights. There is something for everyone here. Also, every month, the latest creations from selected designers are presented in the MQ-Point.
However, also in the MAK Shop, the museum shop of the Austrian Museum for Fine Arts, you will discover a number of carefully selected products from national and international designers. Why not combine a shopping trip with a visit to the museum? On Tuesdays, from 6pm the entrance to the museum is only 7 Euro and the shop is open until 9 pm.

In the last few years, a number of shops selling various products with a focus on Vienna have opened their doors in Herrengasse – in the middle of Vienna’s first district.
Here you will find the Wiener Zuckerlwerkstatt (literally the Viennese Sweet Workshop), where handmade sweets are made using centuries-old recipes. In the shop you have the possibility to taste the wide range of sweets and also to watch these small sweets being produced.
Not far from here is a shop selling Viennese soap, where you can choose from a wide range of handmade soaps. A truly original Viennese product.
And of course, there is the VIENNASTORE. From Viennese gin to funny Viennese kitchen products, games or books – the focus is on the capital. This is not only a secret tip for tourists but for anyone looking for an extraordinary Christmas present.

Where you can buy a present and do good at the same time
Did you know that you can buy goats and donkeys in one of the most popular shopping streets in Vienna – on Mariahilfer Straße? The pop-up shop of the charitable organisation, Caritas Wien, makes this possible! All products sold here have an additional social value. For example, the Caritas campaign, „Meaningful presents“ involves gifts which ultimately help people in need. A goat, for example, will enable a new start in Burundi. You will also find unusual designs and wonderful handmade goodies. For anyone who wants to do some good at Christmastime and share some happiness.
