A new interpretation of the Viennese “Gemütlichkeit”
In the last few years, the Viennese have developed into true brunch fans. Because of this, an increasing number of cafés and restaurants now offer an extensive brunch buffet, above all at weekends and on public holidays. A great and relaxed way to start the day and you can easily spend several hours enjoying your brunch. Today we would like to present our favourite locations for a perfect brunch in Vienna.
Salzberg – One of Vienna’s oldest brunch locations
The classic amongst the Viennese brunch restaurants is the Salzberg in Vienna’s sixth district. It is located in a side street, not far from the well-known shopping street, Mariahilfer Straße, and, in addition to a generous interior, it also has a small garden where you can sit and enjoy your food. Brunch is served here every Saturday, Sunday and on public holidays from 9am to 4pm. You can choose from a wide range of dishes – from various types of bread, cheese, ham, cereals, fruit and vegetables to warm dishes like porridge, boiled eggs, waffles and much more – everything to satisfy the desires of breakfast fans. And, if you are not feeling too hungry, the Salzberg also offers various breakfast packages as an alternative.

Not far from the Salzberg, there is another brunch location, which is very popular with the Viennese. The Caffè Latte in Neubaugasse continues to be a great favourite due to its reputation as one of the best known cafés serving brunch. We highly recommend that you make a reservation before going there, as it can be very difficult to get a table. You can do this easily online by reserving a table on the café’s website.
At the weekend and on public holidays you can enjoy a brunch buffet with a wide range of dishes for € 15.90. In addition to the brunch classics, there is also a warm buffet with two different types of soup, five main dishes to choose from as well as a warm dessert. Alternatively, you can choose from the breakfast menu, which offers various types of breakfast. In summer, even more guests are attracted by the cosy garden in the courtyard of the café.

In hardly any other café will you find such attention to detail in the presentation of the numerous delicacies. Every Sunday from 10:30am to 3pm, a particularly extensive brunch buffet, including a glass of prosecco, is offered. The price is also unbeatable – for only € 19.90 you can choose from a wide range of cold delicacies but also from freshly made roasts, such as roasted pork, which are also served here.
