For anyone living in Vienna or simply visiting the city, they can save themselves a trip to Japan. Lovers of authentic Japanese cuisine will definitely not be disappointed in Sakai in Vienna’s eighth district, Josefstadt. The restaurant itself is wonderfully furnished – of course, in a Japanese style. And one of the best sushi chefs worldwide cooks for the restaurant’s guests.
Tip: We highly recommend that you reserve a table in advance. The Sakai is extremely popular with both tourists and locals.

The Manameierei, which only opened its doors a short while ago, is situated somewhat hidden at the edge of the Vienna Woods. A restaurant close to the well-known recreational area, Schwarzenbergpark, which can be easily reached by public transport (Wiener Linien). If you would like to go for a walk or a hike in the area, you should definitely stop for a break and a rest in this restaurant. Light food is served in the Manameierei: bread with various spreads and toppings and everything with a Mediterranean touch. However, the highlight is not only the food but the restaurant itself, with its beautiful outdoor eating area. In autumn, in particular, guests can while away some hours in the cozy atmosphere here.

There are many extraordinary locations in Vienna which are well worth a visit
. One of these has to be the “Turnhalle im Brick 5”. The restaurant is located at the heart of Vienna’s 15th district, Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus. After a little bit of searching, you will discover a separate area in the inner court, amongst others with a co-working space. However, the heart – in addition to a flea market, theatre and music performances – is the old gym hall. Here guests are served a wonderful, vegetarian breakfast and brunch in a very unusual and fascinating setting. Also here, we recommend that you book a table in advance.

It doesn’t always have to be food from faraway places. Traditional Viennese home cooking can offer so much more than schnitzel and Kaiserschmarren (shredded sweet pancakes with raisins). In Kommod, in the city’s eighth district, in Strozzigasse, you can now enjoy sophisticated Viennese cuisine. In a traditional yet modern ambience, seasonal products are served and the suppliers are known personally. And you can taste how good these ingredients are. With four or five dishes, the menu is very small but still fine. If you are vegetarian or vegan, you should share this information as well as your favourite dishes when you book a table. The chef will take this into account and conjure up a special meal for you.
