Professionally guided tours through an unknown city are a great, interesting and exciting way to discover any city but if your holiday budget is a little tight, you tend to skip such leisure activities. But this is not only a pity – Vienna has so many stories to tell – but also not necessary!
In the meantime, there are free tours with local guides in Vienna, who will take you to the most interesting monuments, streets and squares of the enchanting city and provide you with an abundance of information. The group sizes are usually limited – more information can be found online where you can also book your tour.
The tour itself is free, but a small tip for the guides at the end of the tour is definitely appreciated!
PrimeTours, (https://www.primetours.at), Good Tours (https://www.goodviennatours.eu/) or Welcome Tour Vienna (https://www.welcometourvienna.at/) for example, offer free city tours of Vienna.

In Vienna, there are many lakes and bathing ponds which can be used completely free of charge. Especially in summer, these promise cool refreshment – some of them are also perfectly suitable for our four-legged friends.
But also in winter, many of them are the perfect place for picturesque walks to escape the stress of everyday life for a while. First and foremost: the Wienerberg recreation area in the city’s 10th district. Whether it’s running, cycling, football, children’s playgrounds or a beach volleyball court, there’s something for everyone here – and it’s free to boot!
CheckVIENNA Apartment Tip: Our spacious holiday apartment in the Landgutgasse, in Vienna’s 10th district, which can accommodate up to 6 people and is just around the corner from the enchanting Wienerberg!

What should not be missed on a visit to Vienna under any circumstances? Of course, a visit to the famous Viennese markets! Because these are just as diverse as the capital itself.
Spread over many districts, they attract visitors with seasonal fruits and vegetables, fresh bread, cheese and sausages, but also clothing, unique handmade items and many, many free samples. The Naschmarkt, for example, has a tourist atmosphere, whereas the Karmelitermarkt offers more regional products.
Our tip: Fresh produce from the markets can be easily transformed into delicious home-cooked meals in the fully furnished kitchens of the CheckVIENNA apartments.
