The most direct way to get to Vienna is definitely by plane. In terms of speed and views, hardly any other means of transport can compare to this method.
You could wait on last-minute seats or bargains, but why not check out some of the more economical airlines, such as LaudaMotion, Eurowings or LEVEL, which make a trip to Vienna easier due to their cheap flights. If you are lucky, you may even find a flight for as little as 25 Euro! Special flight search machines, such as skyscanner.at or checkfelix.com, are available where you can look for flights and compare prices. It is also definitely worthwhile to follow some flight operators on social media channels, as you can keep up to date on the special deals they offer.
You can easily get to the city centre from the airport by bus or by train. The S-Bahn (literally, the quick train) from the airport is particularly cheap.

Travelling to Vienna by bus is, without a doubt, not the fastest but certainly a very affordable alternative. Whether you are travelling for a long or short distance to Vienna, the FlixBus stops in over 2,000 places. In the bus, you can enjoy the views, sleep or chat with the other travellers.
And if the bus journey should become a little too boring for you, there are plugs to charge your electronic equipment and free Wifi may help to while away the hours. We recommend that you reserve tickets in advance.

Travelling by train to Vienna

You can travel to Vienna from within Austria but also from the neighbouring countries without having to change trains. The largest Austrian provider is the ÖBB, the Austrian National Railway.
It is also possible to find especially cheap train deals but it is important that you book your tickets early. There are so-called Sparschiene tickets, which will take you to Vienna cheaply. But be careful, as there are only a limited number of such tickets.
The greatest advantage to travelling by train is the fact that you can travel overnight with the night trains. Board your train in the evening, get a good night’s sleep and arrive fresh in the capital in the morning, go for a leisurely breakfast and begin your holiday in Vienna totally motivated!
Within Austria you can travel with the Westbahn, which is particularly cheap. This private provider offers train connections between Vienna and Slazburg exclusively. But once again, the earlier you book, the cheaper your ticket will be.

BlaBlaCar – the name is easy to remember and it is even easier to book a trip with it. Instead of driving to Vienna yourself, you can simply be a passenger while someone else drives. This option not only brings people together, it is also a very cost-effective way which also saves you the difficult task of finding a parking space in Vienna.
Booking a car is amazingly easy: simply enter your route and dates online and then select from the many options which you will be offered, book one and done! In this way, for example, you could travel to Vienna’s city centre from the main station in Berlin for around 30 Euro. It doesn’t get any cheaper than that!
