Romantic Vienna

Romantic places in Vienna

Whether it’s your wedding day or your anniversary, your first date, or for Valentine’s Day – Vienna has much to offer for couples. In addition to the classics, such as a romantic dinner or a lavish brunch, there are numerous other activities for those wanting to spend time with a loved one. Here are a few tips on where couples can enjoy some quality time together in Vienna.

Hand in Hand ice-skating at the Town Hall Square

Every year, the Town Hall Square is transformed into an 9,000 m2 ice rink in the heart of the city . At the Wiener Eistraum (the Vienna Ice Dream), lovers can float over Vienna’s Town Hall Square with an amazing background and saunter through the romantically-lit Town Hall Park to musical accompaniment. But this nocturnal light show is not only an impressive sight for romantic couples.

Another special feature: You can now also skate on the first floor! The popular “Sky Rink” terrace can be reached by skating up a 120 m long ramp.

You can hire ice skates and helmets at the ice rink which means that nothing stands in the way of a spontaneous visit while you are on holiday in Vienna.

Have a break together from the hustle and bustle of Vienna

When you are on a city trip, it sometimes does you good to take time to relax after a few busy days of sightseeing. The Therme Wien (Vienna Spa) is the perfect haven and, thanks to the new underground extension, is also now very easy to reach.

Whether a pampering massage for two or an exclusive “Relax! Tagesurlaub” (One Day Holiday) offer with your own lounge and reserved loungers as well as numerous other opportunities to relax, couples can really enjoy time together at the Spa.

Romantic charm of independent cinemas

Especially when in the cold months of the year, a visit to the cinema is perfect for a romantic date. In Vienna you will find many cinemas to choose from. Not only do the cinemas provide an extremely varied programme but they are also particularly charming. In the Filmcasino in the Margaretenstraße, you get the impression that you have travelled back in time, in the Burgkino – the oldest cinema in the city – films are shown in their original language while the Artis International cinema in Vienna’s first district offers a potpourri of independent films and blockbusters in English.

They shape the cityscape like almost no other: The Fiaker from Vienna. Fiaker is a carriage, which is pulled by two horses. For many tourists a highlight, because there is hardly a more convenient way to explore the beauty of Vienna.

But not only for tourists is a ride in the two-horse coach something special. Couples – whether newly in love or long married – enjoy the romantic tour also.

Our tip: Try the “Riding Dinner”! Here delicacies of Viennese cuisine from well-known restaurants are served directly in the Fiaker.
